The house, briefly
The house, briefly
A townhouse in Ystad, a hundred metres from the marina with the boats in view from the windows, on the edge where the medieval centre meets Sandskogen forest. We took it on in 2024 and rent it out for the weeks we're not there ourselves. Two bedrooms, room for four, and a small inner courtyard that catches the afternoon sun.

The town
Ystad, on foot
Ystad is a 13th‑century Hanseatic town with one of the best‑preserved medieval centres in Sweden. About 300 half‑timbered houses still stand inside the old street grid. From the front door, the marina is a hundred metres away and Stortorget with Sankta Maria church around twelve minutes' walk. Ystad Saltsjöbad sits half an hour on foot or ten minutes by bike east along the coast. The night watchman has blown a horn from the church tower every fifteen minutes between 21:15 and 01:00 since 1748. Ferries leave for Bornholm in 80 minutes and Świnoujście in seven hours.
Österlen
Österlen, a short drive
Österlen stretches from Ystad in the south to Kristianstad in the north: rolling farmland, apple orchards, fishing villages and a coastline that runs from open beaches to cliffs and forest. Ales stenar at Kåseberga, twenty minutes east. Sandhammaren's white sand, twenty‑five. Kiviks Musteri, forty‑five. Stenshuvud national park, fifty. Brösarp's hills, Simrishamn, and Glimmingehus all within an hour.
